6 Ways to Get Around Walt Disney World

With the recent announcement of the return of the Disney Minnie Van Service, it is a great time to highlight the complimentary transportation options available to Walt Disney World guests. There are a number of options to move about the 47 miles that make up the Walt Disney World Resort. Here are some tips on making transportation a breeze on your next Disney vacation.

Disney Minnie Van Service Connected by Lyft – Returning June 29!

Disney’s cutest transportation, Minnie Vans, is returning on June 29. This private car service will once again be available for guests to use and enjoy. Minnie Van Service is one of the most convenient and personalized transportation options to choose from – with quick, point-to-point drop-offs and pick-ups around Walt Disney World, at prices that vary by route. It’s easy: Book by just opening your Lyft App and selecting a Minnie Van vehicle to pick you up! Guests can also use the app to request an Accessible Minnie Van, as needed, and each Minnie Van comes equipped with two complimentary car seats for your littlest travelers.

Walt Disney World Bus Service

The most available transportation at Disney is the Walt Disney World Bus Service. It’s hard to miss those magical buses carrying guests around Walt Disney World, especially the ones wrapped with your favorite Disney characters. Bus service is complimentary for guests staying at any Disney Resort Collection hotel and provides transportation from your resort to theme parks, water parks (with transfer at Disney Springs), and even Disney Springs. Bus service information can be found on the My Disney Experience app, making it easy to know when the next pickup will be.

Walt Disney World Monorail

The most famous transportation system at Walt Disney World is undoubtingly the Walt Disney World monorail. The Monorail offers guests three lines of service with varying stops at each, including:

The Resort Monorail Line:

  • Transportation and Ticket Center (Magic Kingdom Parking)
  • Magic Kingdom Park
  • Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
  • Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
  • Disney’s Contemporary Resort

The Express Line:

  • Transportation and Ticket Center (Magic Kingdom Parking)
  • Magic Kingdom Park

EPCOT Line:

  • Transportation and Ticket Center
  • EPCOT

Disney Skyliner

The newest transportation offering is the Disney Skyliner. It is one of the most popular transportation options and is a game-changer when it goes to an easy and convenient form of transportation. These aerial gondolas take you to and from Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT between four resorts: Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. My favorite thing about the Disney Skyliner is being able to enter EPCOT through the World Showcase entrance. This entrance is much less crowded and provides a calm and easy entryway into this park.

Water Transportation

Water transportation is a great way to slow down and enjoy the scenery, whether you are taking a ferry from the Transportation and Ticket Center to Magic Kingdom Park or even just enjoying a cruise aboard the Friendship Boats in the World Showcase Lagoon at EPCOT!

At select Disney Resort Collection hotels, you can enjoy water taxi options for transportation to theme parks and even Disney Springs. Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa all offer boat service to Magic Kingdom Park. Guests at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, and Disney’s Beach Club Resort can enjoy water taxi service aboard Friendship Boats to both EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Walking Paths

If you enjoy a leisurely stroll, you can also walk to some theme parks from select resorts. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, and Disney’s Beach Club Resort are just a short stroll to EPCOT and a relaxing walk to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort, you can enjoy a peaceful walk to Magic Kingdom Park.
