Planning a trip for your entire family can be difficult. With so many ships and itineraries to choose from on Royal Caribbean, it can be stressful choosing a ship that each of your kids will love—while still having amenities for mom and dad to enjoy! No need to stress. We’ve put together a guide featuring some of Royal Caribbean’s best classes of ships to help you find a ship that meets (and exceeds!) your vacation expectations.
Today we’re going to look at the Quantum-, Oasis-, and Freedom-class ships and determine which is the best option for your next family vacation.
Royal Caribbean Quantum Class
When you picture your ideal family vacation, what comes to mind? Maybe it’s spending a fun-filled day taking on new adventures with your entire crew. Or maybe it’s having a relaxing day at the pool while your children take on everything the kids’ clubs have to offer.
However your family prefers to spend their time, you’ll find all those activities (and more!) on the Quantum-class ships. Leading the Royal Caribbean fleet, the Quantum-class ships are home to the first Ripcord by iFLY, a skydiving simulator, and an aerial gondola that takes you 300 feet above sea level known as the North Star—both of which should be on your family’s must-do list!
While you enjoy a day of complete relaxation at the spa, your kids will be living it up at the multi-use SeaPlex that transforms into a roller skating rink featuring 70s disco nights, bumper cars, and more! Once it’s time for the whole gang to reconvene, you all can head to the pool deck for a family-friendly moving screening on the outdoor movie screen.
Ideal for: The Quantum-class ships are a perfect fit for adventurous families who are always looking for the next action-packed activity. Made up of some of the largest ships in the Royal Caribbean fleet, the ships hold approximately 4,000 passengers. While the Quantum ships won’t be the lowest cost, you’ll pay for the plentiful amenities and activities.
Royal Caribbean Oasis Class
The Oasis-class ships are the largest in the world—jam-packed with everything your family needs to make one-of-a-kind memories. From a FlowRider surfing simulator and ice skating rink to a rock climbing wall, zipline, and carousel, there’s something for both adrenaline junkies and relaxation seekers.
Whether you’re looking for a way for the family to spend some extra time together, or you’re planning a trip where mom and dad can get some alone time, the Oasis-class has the activities, amenities, and entertainment you’re looking for. Their kids clubs are unmatched with designated areas for toddlers, kids, tweens, and teens that include amenities like arts and crafts workshops, science lab, video arcade, and DJ academy.
All the activities will have you work up an appetite, and if you have picky eaters in your clan, you’re in luck! The Windjammer Cafe offers an assortment of cuisine that fulfills everyone’s cravings. Your children will especially enjoy the Dog House on the boardwalk where they can enjoy gourmet hotdogs from the first-ever “food truck” at sea. Looking for a late-night snack after leaving the night’s entertainment? Sorrento’s is an authentic New York-style pizzeria offering 24-hour cheesy goodness whenever you want it!
Ideal for: Boosting the largest ships in the world, Royal Caribbean’s Oasis-class ships have something for each one of its 5,000 passengers. The Oasis-class ships are ideal for large families or groups with both young children and teenagers who are looking to stay busy. With its dining, activities, and entertainment, your family will have the vacation of a lifetime.
Royal Caribbean Freedom Class
Although smaller than the Oasis- and Quantum-class ships, the Freedom-class shouldn’t be ruled out just yet! These slightly smaller ships are an ideal choice for families who don’t want large crowds or long lines but want access to a variety of activities and entertainment options like the surfing simulator, rock climbing wall, and mini-golf.
Even with its smaller size, the Freedom-class still features many of the same amenities as the larger ships. If you’re planning a mom and dad only day, you can get some peace and quiet in the adults-only Solarium. Or if you’re looking to lounge by the pool and soak in the hot tub, pretend you’re the next winner of the Olympics while enjoying the ice skating rink, or test your surfing skills on the FlowRider, your family can do all that and more!
Ideal for: The Freedom-class is ideal for families who want a large ship without the crowds and high ticket prices that the Quantum- and Oasis-class ships have. With the smaller sized ship, you won’t have to make reservations to any of the shows and onboard entertainment events, but you’ll still have all the amazing amenities to enjoy!
